Mesh and Visa link wallet balances to 175 million merchants

Mesh and Visa announced a partnership on Oct. 19 to let users pay at more than 175 million merchant locations from crypto and stablecoin balances in participating wallet apps, according to Mesh’s announcement. The deal is designed to let people pay online and in stores without first cashing out or moving funds.

How will a wallet balance fund a payment?

Mesh will handle the transaction funding and conversion, while a Visa credential is provisioned behind the scenes, the company said. Users would tap at a contactless terminal or pay online; merchants would receive a standard payment and would not need new hardware or checkout changes.

The system is intended to draw on supported crypto, stablecoin and fiat balances held across participating platforms. Mesh said platforms can connect through one integration instead of building their own card program.

Where will the payments work?

The partnership is aimed at Visa’s network of more than 175 million merchant locations in over 200 countries and territories, Mesh said. Visa processed $14.2 trillion in payments volume in fiscal 2025, according to the announcement.

The Block reported that the arrangement would let users spend without selling or transferring assets beforehand. The publication also reported that the participating platforms, supported devices and initial availability have not yet been announced.

When will users be able to pay?

Mesh has not announced a launch date or named the first participating wallets, exchanges or platforms. The company said those details would follow as rollout plans are finalized.

Mesh will act as program manager and handle user onboarding and identity checks, according to its announcement. Until platforms join and availability is set, the deal describes a planned payment option rather than a service users can access now.
