Samsung will add USDC transfers to Samsung Wallet on 82 million eligible U.S. Galaxy devices from the last week of October, giving users a way to send funds abroad or pay out to bank accounts in more than 60 countries. The Sui Foundation’s announcement says users will be able to hold and send USDC through the wallet already on their phones.
How will users send money abroad?
Eligible users can transfer USDC to compatible crypto wallets or send it to qualifying bank accounts, where recipients can receive local currency, according to CoinDesk’s report. Samsung says integrated on- and off-ramps will handle funding and payouts, and users must authenticate transfers biometrically on a registered Galaxy device.
Which blockchains and companies will support the service?
Solana and Sui will provide blockchain support, CoinDesk reported. Sui says USDC transfers on its network can be made without a network fee or requiring users to hold SUI; Samsung will not charge for transfers to compatible external wallets, though recipient wallets or exchanges may set their own fees.
Bastion will provide stablecoin infrastructure and custody, with Coinbase Prime Vault serving as sub-custodian, according to CoinDesk. The arrangement puts custody and transfer infrastructure behind a feature built into Samsung’s existing wallet app.
When does the rollout start?
The U.S. launch is scheduled for the last week of October, with eligible Galaxy devices as the initial audience. Samsung has not announced a date for expansion beyond the U.S.; Sui says the service may later reach additional markets.
